How to Connect Codex Desktop to WordPress

Follow the instructions below to connect Codex Desktop (the Codex app) to your WordPress site with Agent Connector.

  1. Install and activate Agent Connector on your WordPress site.
  2. In your WordPress dashboard, in the left menu, click Agent Connector, navigate to the Connect tab (open by default), and click Get Started.
  3. Choose Codex Desktop and click Continue.
  4. Click Generate app password.
  5. If you do not already have the Codex CLI installed, install it.
  6. Back in Agent Connector, click Copy on the command shown, paste it into your terminal, and press Enter. The MCP server is added.
  7. Recommended – Back in WordPress, open Agent Connector → Settings and install the Universal Abilities plugin — this gives your AI agent abilities to make common changes to your WordPress site.
  8. Close and reopen Codex so it loads the connection, then ask it to do something — for example, “create a blog post about controlling WordPress with Codex Desktop.”
Put your AI agent to work.
Free and open source. Install, connect your agent, and go.
